How to Become a Freemason

August 13th, 2010
Freemasonry is the most ancient and largest worldwide fraternity in the world. Although many religious ideals enter the Masonic rituals and strengthen a member’s religion, Freemasonry is not a substitute for religion and urges its members to be faithful and devoted to their own religious beliefs. It is a Masonic practice not to solicit new members however, anyone interested in joining need only to ask a Mason. All Masons are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about Freemasonry and assist you with applying.  Those applying to become a Freemason must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a man of 21 years of age or older
  • Be of good moral character
  • Believe in the existence of a supreme being
  • Be recommended by two members of that lodge

Please note, upon submitting an application, an investigation of the applications character will occur. After approval by the members of that lodge and the appropriate fees are paid, the applicant will be accepted for membership in Freemasonry. If you are interested in becoming a Freemason in Ontario, please contact mybrethren.ca for assistance.
